Technology Philosophy
In my journey to become a teacher I have taken various courses on integrating technology into the classroom. My experiences in these courses have taught me about the exciting and valuable role that technology can play in modern classrooms. The world is becoming more technologically advanced every minute therefore I plan to include as many of these tools as I can in my classroom. Quite frankly, it would be a disservice to our students not to prepare them for this major part of their lives.
I hope to show my students how programs like Inspiration, Kidspiration, and Power Point can help them create idea maps and organize their thoughts during the prewriting stage. My students will use word processing software for drafting, editing, revising and publishing whenever possible. Through this process students will also learn how to navigate a computer and use tools like spell check, grammar check and editing functions.
Students in my class will gain experience working with computers not just through writing but through guided internet searches, looking for material related to specific content or writing genre pieces they'll compose. In my class students will gain an understanding of how to use search engines, URLs, web addresses, and keywords to find information about their topics. Some other exciting ways to teach web navigation are through WebQuests, scavenger hunts, and LitTrips.

Google LitTrip
I can conduct a class read aloud that really gets the students into the story by pairing it with a Google LitTrip. Here is a Google LitTrip I've created.
